Head out on the great scenic Pakuranga Rotary Walkway that runs along the Tamaki Estuary and Whakaaranga Creek for about 8-9kms, to Pigeon Mountain. It's a stunning walk (or cycle) with beautiful plant life and historic volcanic features.
The Pakuranga Rotary Walk is accessible from many entrances throughout the Farm Cove area and weaves around past the Pakuranga Sailing Club, where kite surfing is very popular. The pathway weaves around the tidal estuary. It's a popular spot for walkers, joggers and cyclists - although there are plenty of blind corners, so cyclists please be mindful of the walkers!
The walkway is paved, so suitable for wheelchairs, strollers and scooters. It's a good 2.5 hour return walk.
We Say | Loved it. When the tide is in there's a flurry of action on the water with small sailing boats, waka and windsurfers. Plenty of playgrounds and flat grassy areas for the kids too. MANGROVES AND SUNSHINE - FARM COVE DELIGHTSGetting to the Pakuranga Rotary Walkway | The walk begins at Kentigern Close (opposite Pakuranga town centre) although many side roads in Farm Cove feed walkway access too.
