This lovely Te Henga walkway will take you through bush right to the ridge overlooking Bethells Beach and continues around O’Neill Bay, Jonkers Rock, Kirikiri Beach then on to Constable Road - for coastal cliffs, lagoons and awesome views.
It will take about 3 hours to walk to complete Te Henga track that begins on Bethells Beach Road and ends up out on Constable Road (can be walked in either direction). Or, if you don’t have that much time, just walk to the coast, check out the views and return.
It’s a real trampers track (in parts), so a good level of fitness would be recommended and appropriate shoes would be a good idea. There’s a few ridges, so expect some steep terrain in parts – however you will be rewarded with views of the lagoons, beaches and coastal cliffs.
This track is part of the Hillary Trail, a network of tracks throughout the Waitakere Ranges. Parts of the track are closed between August and October due to lambing.

Getting to the Te Henga Walkway | Head along Bethells Road (watch out for Tasman View Road on the left and this is your cue), cross a one lane over bridge and this will be signposted directly after on the right side of the road. Drive down the lane, and you’ll find the carpark directly at the entrance to the track.
