Not walked by many, you'll find the delightful secluded St Leonards Bay, high cliffs with spectacular views of Rangitoto Island. Best at low tide, this a beautiful walk. It's a local spot too, for dog owners as generally unpopulated dog friendly area.
St Leonards Beach is good for swimming and also accessible via steep steps accessed from behind Takapuna Grammar School.
We Reckon | The St Leonards Bay Coastal Walk is certainly a brilliant part of Auckland and well worth the walk. The cliffs with pohutukawas in bloom are just beautiful. There is a bit of scrambling over rock in parts, some of which can be quite slippery, so stay off the wet moss and you'll be just fine. Be prepared to get your feet wet occasionally. Dog friendly beach - 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days of the year, with no daylight saving restrictions (thanks Auckland City).
Getting to St Leonards Bay | Take a walk along Takapuna Beach and keep going south! While it may
seem that the access way stops at the southern end of Takapuna Beach at
the cliffs, at low tide you can take a coastal walk around the coast to
Narrow Neck Beach.
