Go fill your boots with 64 hectares of garden wonderland at the Auckland Botanic Gardens in Manurewa.
There are more than 10,000 plants from around the world, award winning blooms, glasshouses, plant collections and former home to the internationally famous Ellerslie Flower Show.
If you fancy a walk (may as well while you are there) the Native Forest Trail begins behind the Lower Lake, so grab a brochure at the Main Entrance and get going.
If you're serious about plants, you can always take a free guided tour. Just meet at the Auckland Botanical Garden's Visitor Centre (no need to book) and you will head off on a garden voyage of discovery through the seasonal collections. The tours are every Wednesday and commence at 1pm.
